Good Bye October Hello November

October certainly passed quickly.  It was a busy, happy month.  We had a grandson get engaged.  We took a couple of road trips. We got things done around the house.  We visited my sister and brother-in-law.

I have been painting two pictures.  Painting paint by number pictures has become my new obsession.  I can get lost for hours applying paint to a picture as it slowly begins to look like something.  Sometimes when you are up close to a picture you are painting, it just looks like blobs of paint and then you step back and see the picture.  I take pictures in progress to really see what they look like.  I am loving this picture. First one I painted with 36 color paints instead of the standard 24 I have used in the past. Some of the numbers  to be painted are sometimes difficult to see even with my lighted magnifying glass.

I just ordered another picture to paint and there are others I would like to get eventually. Now I am going to have to find a wall to hang them all on.

David was off for a week so we took a road-trip.  Back  country roads, as usual. Indiana is glorious in the Autumn.

With my trusty driver and partner in crime off we go.

I am just going to show you the beautiful foliage we saw as we drove.  Enjoy the view.

You can’t be in Indiana without seeing cornfields.  This is ready to be picked.  As a farmer’s daughter, I love seeing these ripe fields of corn and soybeans and always hope the farmers have a bumper crop.

We crossed this bridge that had been spray painted probably by some teenagers having fun.  I rather like it.

Lots of colors.  Maybe there is an artist beating in their breasts!

We got on a wrong road which turned into the right road because we came upon this beautiful lake out in the middle of nowhere.  Houses surrounded it.

We both thought this one was especially pretty.

Lots of old barns on the backroads.

Our duck passengers enjoy the ride.

Trump McDuck is telling his little friend he is going to rename Indiana Trumpiana.

Minnie and Ice Cream duck just ignore him.

We have had some beautiful sunsets this Autumn. This doesn’t do it justice.

We had the full Hunter’s moon. It was so big and bright.  Seen through a dirty windshield.

Through more towns with murals on the buildings.  That seems to be the thing now.  Murals.  I do like seeing them and they do brighten up the landscape.
We drove to Cincinnati to our son’s house. His stepson, whom we have never met because he lives in England, was visiting with his fiancé who he was going to marry in the states. She is from Lithuania.
They went to the justice of the peace. They didn’t want anyone there, just them but we all met afterward at a little out of the way farm where there was an antique store and another little store and a place to sit outside under the trees.

It was a beautiful place to sit outside and there was even a sandbox where children could play while their parents were at the tables eating lunch or having a drink.

This is the sandbox along with toys in it to play with.

I took a picture of this stool because I want  David to build one like it to set a couple of plants on in my greenhouse.

This is the happy couple. They are showing their cheap, plastic rings they got married with. They are having their real rings being made over in England. I enjoyed meeting them. Both very nice people and she is a hoot. Would love to get to know them better.

The night before they got married was Halloween and for the first time since our children were young, we got to take part in handing out candy to kids.  It was so much fun.  Across the street, a man was actually serving hotdogs. He made 300 and they were all taken by the end of the evening. We even got some.  And he was dressed up like a hotdog and his wife as a bottle of ketchup.  How fun was that?  We saw all kinds of costumes. One family had dressed their baby as a little mouse, set him in a wagon and had made a mousetrap that fit over the baby and wagon.  It was so darn cute. Saw Where’s Waldo, soldiers, princesses. There were a lot of teenagers trick or treating also which I found quite reassuring. They all were so polite. There was only one boy, who grabbed a whole handful of the candy, but his father made him put all but one back which was good parenting.  I saw on Facebook where a woman was shown on camera dumping a whole bowl of candy into her child’s sack.  People had left the bowl out believing people would be honest and not take more than one piece.  That woman was teaching g her child a very bad thing.
Our sonwas telling me about the stag party the guys had for the soon to be groom. All they did was sit outside smoke cigars and drink a beer. Oh, and they had a stripper.  Here she is.

  yep

Yep, here she is. Annie, stripper extraordinaire.  Isn’t she beautiful!  Actually this is their darling dog.  She is so sweet

Our daughter-in-law loves decorating for Halloween.

Annie even dressed as a bee.
Sadly we had to head home after a fun weekend, but we took the long way home along the Ohio River.

Through wonderful river towns. We have several of those in southern Indiana.  I love the houses in those towns. Let me show you a few of them.

This is Lanier house in Madison.

Two toned house in one town.

In one town the courthouse trees had been toilet papered heavily.  Must have taken rolls and rolls of toilet paper to do it.  Remember when we had a toilet paper shortage during the Biden years?  Must be a lot around now.

Some trees are just perfect.

We just love back roads.

Magical.

In one town we saw this…..

A huge spider on the side of this building.
I was reminded this weekend that Thanksgiving is just three weeks away and I am having it at our house and then we are into the Christmas season.  I wish I could slow the days down a little bit. I would love to have everything done and ready for enough time to just think about what Thanksgiving and  Christmas mean to me. They have always been special to me.

Tomorrow is Election Day. Please vote. David and I did early voting. And pray for our country that we elect good people who love our country and Constitution and expect people to follow our laws. Pray if you are a praying person that we elect the right people for their jobs  I fear for my country and I want my grandchildren and great grandchildren to live in the same country I grew up in. I see so much chaos happening around the world and I don’t want it for my country. So, please vote, but do know what you are voting for.
I will say it now because I’m not guaranteeing I will get to write another post before Thanksgiving, so Hapoy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it.  We really do have a whole lot to be thankful for.  Bye.
