I’m a Believer

Today I am going somewhere completely different from what I usually write about.  There are things going on in this world that cannot be explained.  There are portents of things to come in what is happening all around us.  Those of us who have studied the Bible are not surprised by what is happening.  Did you know the Bible mentions ghosts?  Not the Holy ghost, just ghosts.(Perhaps I should clarify that yes, the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit is mentioned in the Bible.)  When Jesus first appeared to some of the disciples, they thought at first that he was a ghost.

There are some things I believe in.  I believe there is a God, that Jesus died for me and that He sits at the right hand of God right this minute.  I believe in angels and I believe there is a devil and his demons who roam the earth wreaking havoc on all people.  I believe in heaven and in hell.  I believe there is a battle going on all around us that we cannot see between angels and demons.  I believe there are many things we cannot explain.  I believe God does not want one of us to perish.  He sent His only Son after all.  I don’t think I could love that much to give up one of my sons to die for everyone.  But God did.  But this post is not about that.  I hope you will know I am being sincere in what I am telling you.  I couldn’t make up things I am about to tell you.

There are many things that cannot be explained through science or through practical knowledge.  We are all spiritual beings whether we are believers or not.  Some have just shut off the spiritual side of themselves and I believe they are missing a lot of what God has planned for them. But I am not talking about this kind of spirituality.

I have never believed in ghosts.  That said, I have some really strange ghost stories to tell.

Years ago, our family went on vacation and we stopped at this park where there was a fire tower that we wanted to climb, but our daughter was too little.  So David walked up with the boys taking the camera with him.  He took a picture of my daughter and me standing beneath the tower.  When we got home and had the pictures developed, we noticed something odd about the picture of my daughter and me.  It appeared there was another figure standing beside us.  A very distinct shape of a person.  There had been no other people around us that day.

We live in a 100 year old house.   From the very beginning of living here I began to see a cat running in the house.  Up the stairs usually.  We had cats later, but at the time, we had no cats.  Then a few years ago I was sitting in our living room and saw a cat run across the room right into the wall.  The hairs went up on the back of my neck.  I called to David in the kitchen and said, “You are not going to believe what I just saw.”  I don’t think he did.

When my father died, a few nights after his death I was lying in bed and heard who I thought was David walking into the room. I lay there with my eyes closed.  Suddenly, I felt a presence standing over me and felt the most wonderful feeling of love.  I opened my eyes and David wasn’t there.  He was downstairs.  I have always thought it was my daddy coming to say good-bye.

One night I was in my bedroom in bed and heard David come into the room and when he didn’t get in bed I opened my eyes and he wasn’t there.  I got up and called downstairs and asked him if he had come upstairs.  He said he hadn’t.

Something happened that makes me think we have something going on in our house.  Our grandsons stayed overnight one night and the next day going home one of them said he didn’t want to stay overnight anymore because a bad man came into his room.  That sent the hairs on the back of my neck up because our daughter had the same experience once when she was small and had screamed from her room one night waking us all up from a deep sleep saying there was a man in her room. We searched everywhere.    She doesn’t remember it now.   Now when I ask her about it, she says it was bees in the window, which did happen once, but not that night.

Well, this week two things happened that were really strange.  Okay, more than strange.  David and I were in the kitchen when out of the corner of my eye I saw a man in a white shirt  with dark hair coming into the kitchen.  He seemed to be surprised that we were there and backed out immediately and disappeared.  I said, “David, there was a man there just now.”  He just laughed.  Soon something strange would happen to him.

Yesterday I was out in my shop and David was in the house.  He came out to the shop and said,”Were you just in the house?”  “No, I said, why?” ” Someone whistled at me at the back door and I whistled back.  It sounded just like you.”  Okay.  Ummmm.  I don’t know what happened, but he definitely heard someone whistle. So we have a cat owning, white shirt wearing, whistling ghost I guess.  As long as he’s friendly, I will be okay.  Sometimes I think someone is standing right behind me while I type here.  I feel nothing scary about it.  It just is.

The husband of a friend of mine is a doctor and he ran into a ghost with no feet floating down the hallway at the hospital.  He smelled gangrene.  He said the ghost was just as surprised to see him as he was to see the ghost.  I’m not the only one seeing them.

When my grandfather died, my mother said she saw him at the foot of her bed just standing there looking at her.

Do you have a ghost?  Do you believe in ghosts?  I really don’t believe in them, but what is happening at my house?   The explanation must be supernatural.

I saw a show on Netflix about a guy who one day started to see angels, demons and dead people.  It was causing him much angst.  He was really having a horrible time about it.  He went to a psychiatrist who said he was mentally stable.  He went to many people to have his brain studied. Everything was fine.  What makes one person see these things and another doesn’t?    He did say that angels are very tall, beautiful creatures with large wings and they sparkle.  That is what I think angels would look like.

I believe there are things going on all around us that most of us cannot see.  There are battles being waged.   I have heard that all time is going on at the same time, just in different dimensions.  Could it be that someone or something gets caught in the wrong dimension?  God sees it all from the very beginning of creation to the end of time as we know it.   We only see a very tiny bit.  Hope I haven’t scared any of you because I’m not scared. Much.  Bye.

I Can’t Believe, But I Do

I can’t believe it’s less than a week until Christmas.  I have lived through many Christmases and each one has been different, but still the spirit of Christmas lives on.

I believe we celebrate Jesus Christ’s birthday at Christmas time.  Jesus was very probably born in warmer weather since the shepherds were watching their sheep out in the hills around Bethlehem when He was born.  December 25th was picked long ago as the date Christians would celebrate his birth.  Christ Mass is how the word originated.

Anyway, I believe Christmas is special because there is a spirit that surrounds the whole holiday.  The spirit of love, joy, peace and giving of gifts like the magi gave gifts to the Christ child.  I love the gift giving part.  As I grow older, getting gifts just doesn’t seem as important to me as giving them.  I wish I could give more.

DSCN7515

David and I have put on our Santa hats and gotten to work building, painting and sewing Christmas gifts.  This weekend I will be baking and making candy.  Some of the grandkids will be here so they can help me.

DSCN7519

Years ago when David and I had a quilt shop we sold this quilting book.  It has so many wonderful projects in it and I have made a few.

DSCN7520

I made this quilt and gave it to someone who is a teacher.  I would like to make another because I really love it.

DSCN7521

I made this quilt and it is put out every Christmas.  There are a few more projects in the book I plan to make for next Christmas.  Wish I had more time to get them done this year, but time is running out.

DSCN7516

These are some of the things I am working on or will be working on this week.  I forgot I had the Betty Crocker Christmas cookbook and am finding several recipes in it I want to try.  I also am going to make gingerbread cookies.  Something I haven’t done in years, but it just sounded like fun this year. I would like to make peanut brittle.  I love peanut brittle.  One time I was riding my exercise bicycle while eating peanut brittle at the same time.  David came into the room and laughed and said “You’re defeating the purpose of riding the bike, aren’t you?”  I just laughed and ate another piece of peanut brittle.

I told you I would show you my Jim Shore nativity set so here it is.

DSCN7527

I found this in a Hallmark store one year and fell in love with it.  Each figure has a quilt pattern on it.

DSCN7532

Look at the beautiful quilt covering Jesus.  He didn’t have something so lovely covering Him there in the stable with all the animals.  All Mary had were a few rags with which to wrap Him.  The Savior of the world wrapped in rags lying in an animal’s feeding trough.  How lowly was the birth of the King of the universe.  God’s son come to earth to save us all.  The best Christmas gift anyone could receive.

DSCN7540

This little lamb is so sweet.  Another quilted covering.  Jim Shore knew this added touch would make his figurines special.

DSCN7539

The Wise men.  Where did they come from?  So far away, Jesus was about two years old when they finally found him. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense and Myrrh which is why people always think there were just three. It doesn’t say three wise men in the Bible.  There could have been more or maybe only two with several gifts.  Still, they knew this was an important enough birth to make the long journey to see the Christ child and bring him expensive gifts.  Mary and Joseph probably used these gifts to help support their little family when they had to flee to Egypt because the evil King Herod was looking for this special baby who would be king.

To think, God’s son was threatened to be killed before He would have ever had a chance to die for us all on the cross.  But God had a plan for His son and for all of us.

DSCN7535

Mary probably rode a donkey on her and Joseph’s trip to Bethlehem to pay taxes,  Yes, taxes have been around ever since there has been governments. How would you like to have to travel eighty miles sitting on a donkey when you were nine months pregnant?   But Mary did it.  It was foretold thousands of years before that a virgin would give birth in the town of Bethlehem so she was destined to go there by whatever mode of travel.

I love this little donkey.  One year little hands dropped this donkey and then hid him under our couch where I found him with an ear off.  David glued it back on and you can barely tell it was ever broken.  Now I put this nativity up high where little hands cannot touch.

DSCN7541

These cats did not come with the nativity, but I know from experience there are always cats in a barn where there are cows.  My daddy use to spray milk right into our barn cats’ mouths straight from the cows’ udders.  I always thought that was so funny.

I hope you are looking forward to Christmas as much as I am.  Christmas will come whether there is a tree or gifts under the tree or a big dinner.  It’s all about the spirit.  I plan to spend a little time with Jesus this season enjoying His goodness and light and I hope you know Him and if you don’t, I hope you meet Him one day.  He loves you and cared enough for you to die for you.

Peace, joy, and love to you all.  Bye.

‘Twas

DSCN7464

‘Twas days before Christmas

And all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring,

DSCN7498

Not even my spouse.

DSCN7505

The chickens were nestled

DSCN7503

All snug in their beds,

While visions of juicy worms

Danced in their heads.

DSCN7474

Balloons were hung on the ceiling with care,

In the hopes that our grandchildren

Soon would be there.

DSCN7497

And I in my Santa hat,

And Dave in his socks,

Were roaming the house,

And checking the locks.

When out on the lawn

There arose a great noise.

“What is it?” I wondered.

It’s our grandboys!

DSCN7476

With balloons on their heads,

DSCN7480

And balloons on their ears,

They made me laugh so,

It brought me to tears.

DSCN7487

Our granddaughter, too, got into the act.

DSCN7486

And looked just as funny,

It’s a matter of fact.

DSCN7488

Little boys wrestling.

DSCN7489

Little boys giggling.

DSCN7492

Little boys laughing,

And little boys wiggling.

They were silly and fun.

Quite funny I’d say.

I love them so much,

I could watch them all day.

DSCN7478

But then in a twinkling,

They had to go home.

Which gave me the idea,

To write this new poem.

But I heard them exclaim,

As they drove out of sight.

“We’ll be back soon, Grandma.  We love you.  Good Night!”

What happened to Thanksgiving?

I love Thanksgiving.  I love my family gathering around the table to eat a feast that I have spent days preparing.  After gorging ourselves we then gather around the table to play games. Right now Dizzios is the game of choice.

I don’t like stores being open on Thanksgiving.  We Americans need at least one day when we are not out shopping.  A time to reflect on our lives and thank God for all our blessings and we surely have a lot of blessings in this country.  Do stores really need those extra dollars they make on Thanksgiving?  Do people really need to be shopping every single day of the year?

Maybe some just love shopping so much they cannot go one day without doing so.  When I see the crowds pushing and shoving on television, I wonder what is so important that you would push other people aside to get it?  I cannot think of a single thing that is that important to me.  People are what is important to me. If I have to fight for something to get it, then I don’t want it.    Someone else can have it.

Now I will step gingerly off my soapbox and tell you what we did this Thanksgiving.

First, I prepared for the day.

DSCN7391

I hung up my Thanksgiving towel I had embroidered.

DSCN7378

I made good homemade noodles from my eggs from my beautiful, free range, healthy chooks.

DSCN7380

I set the table with my Americana Pfaltzgraf dinnerwear.  Did I spell Pfaltzgraf properly?    They don’t make the Americana line any longer.  The plates sell for thirty-five dollars a piece now.  I can tell you I bought them for a lot less when they came out.  I also used my mother’s hobnail glassware which is not in this picture.  We used it on special occasions when I was a girl.

DSCN7382

I love holiday napkins.  I have quite a collection of them from several years buying them.  Why don’t I use them up?  They are too pretty for every day use, that’s why.

DSCN7381

My Jim Shore Thanksgiving angel was the centerpiece.  I love her.  I love all of Jim Shore’s things.  They all have a quilt pattern on them.

DSCN7400

I got to hug these two boys a lot and play games with them.  Wish my other grandchildren could have been with us.

DSCN7394

We prayed.  We ate.  The chickens ate potato peelings so they were thankful, too!

By the way.  A friend saw something that reminded her of me.  What was it???

DSCN7386

Gummy chicken feet.

DSCN7388

And gummy chicken eggs.  If a friend is reminded of me when she sees gummy chicken feet and gummy chicken eggs, then all’s right with the world with me.

Then the day after Thanksgiving we jumped feet first into the Christmas season.  I know, the stores have been trying to get us into the Christmas season earlier every year, but at our house Christmas season does not start until after Thanksgiving.

DSCN7426

I got out our Christmas pillows.

DSCN7406

DSCN7407

I have way more pillows than I have room to put them.  I love making pillows. I made that big I believe Santa pillow from a t-shirt I bought at Target.  That curve at the top fits your neck very nicely and it is so comfortable.

DSCN7404

I have a small collection of snowmen and put them on the dining table.

DSCN7411

A collection of Santas on the pie safe in our entryway.

I have a nativity scene by Jim Shore I will have to blog about separately.

DSCN7415

Love the rustic look of this Santa.

DSCN7416

This is one of my favorites.

DSCN7427

Haven’t got our real tree up yet, but put this ceramic tree in the living room.  When I babysat years ago, one of the mothers gave me this for Christmas.  I still love it and put it out every year.

DSCN7428

And of course, quilts on the back of all the chairs.  This is my chair with my blankets and a quilt I am working on right now.  I can settle in for the night here and be very comfortable and happy.  Then we decorated my shop, but that will be for another day.  Bye.

Grandparents’ Day and Whirling Dervishes

David and I had the opportunity to attend Grandparents’ Day at three of our grandchildren’s school this week.  I always love to go to these because it is always so uplifting to see the kind of education my grandchildren are getting.  They go to a large Christian school and I believe they are getting the best education they can get.

DSCN7302

DSCN7288

DSCN7284

When you enter the school you see all these inspirational signs on the walls.  This is a Jesus Christ centered school.  The children and teachers are all so friendly and happy and there is just a wonderful atmosphere in the whole school.

DSCN7273

We grandparents were directed to the auditorium where a jazz band was playing big band music.  They had us all tapping our feet and clapping our hands.  Sorry my zoom lens wasn’t working. The boy playing the xylophone twirled the sticks as he played.  The trombonist was amazing.

DSCN7278

There were greetings from the principal and others and then this pastor gave a short sermon using the piano as an object of the sermon.  There is a middle C.  Christ should be the center of our lives.  The black and white keys symbolize the good and bad that happens in our lives.  There are major key people and minor key people.  He played as he talked using music to enhance what he said.  He played one song playing it fast for the young people, slow for the older people and then really fast to show how fast our lives pass.  He was a great teacher and it was a wonderful object lesson.  I could have listened to him much longer.

DSCN7276

The Praise Team sang and that girl in the green shirt.  That’s our granddaughter.  She sings in all the chapels they have each week.  I am so proud of her.

There were two days for Grandparents’ Day  The middle school was the first day and elementary the next.  This was on day one.

DSCN7289

Our granddaughter took us around the school showing us where all her classrooms are.  This is her locker.

DSCN7279

DSCN7280

She is on the honor roll.

DSCN7290

There were photographs in the hall taken by middle schoolers.  I was amazed at how professional they looked.  When I was their age I could barely put one foot in front of the other without tripping!

DSCN7296

DSCN7297

The next day David and I had to split up.  David went with our younger grandson and because he didn’t have the camera, we didn’t get any pictures of what they did.  They made hand prints and put them together on a page and our grandson wrote a really sweet note to us.   I got to hang out with this grandson.  He is so much fun.   I noticed he was seated in the front row in home room and I wondered why.  Hmmmm.  He and I almost started giggling when a man sneezed really loudly.  Maybe he takes after me a little.

DSCN7300

The students stood up around us  and said a really long passage from the Bible from memory.  I was impressed.

DSCN7298

This is his locker.  I looked inside it and was amazed how neat it is because I have seen his room.   I love this kid.

DSCN7286

Saw this sign on the side of one of the teacher’s desks.  I think it could be parentisms also as I have said many of these things to my children.

DSCN7293

DSCN7291

In the evening we played Dizzios, a form of Dominoes.  It’s probably one of my favorite games even though I think I have only won it one time.  My grandsons are really good at this.

Speaking of grandsons, I will leave you with some pictures of my two youngest grandsons who spent the night with us last weekend.  I brought out the old electric football game our sons use to play with and the boys were entertained for a long time.  As you will see, I could not get a picture that wasn’t blurry because these boys were on the move all the time.  Whirling Dervishes.

Here’s to wonderful Christian schools and grandchildren.  Bye.

Behind the Horses and By the Sea

Busy, busy day today in Wilmington, North Carolina.  Wilmington has Savannah Georgia’s charm with none of the crowds that Savannah always seems to have.

We took a trolley ride today to see parts of the city and hear some history.

DSCN7141

Our two “rescue” horses waited patiently for us to board the trolley.

DSCN7149

Our conductor drove the trolley and kept up a steady talk about the city.  He had that southern drawl I so love to hear.  Soft and words drawn out.  One syllable words becoming two syllable words.  By the end of the day, David was even saying Y’all.

DSCN7162

We passed historic house after historic house.  Most built one, two or three hundred years ago.

DSCN7158

That’s my brother-in-law, Bill, looking with interest at the pretty houses.

DSCN7151

DSCN7148

Each house had a history.

DSCN7164

Each house was a different color.  I really loved the color of this house and even David said he wouldn’t mind our house painted this color. Kind of a terra cotta color.  Maybe in the future.

DSCN7144

My sis-in-law.  We could be partners in crime I’m telling you.  We are so much alike it is frightening.  So much fun to be with her and my brother-in-law.  We do this about every thirty years.  We said we need to get together more often than that!  We have always lived rather far apart.

DSCN7124

Terry is an author. Her books are on Amazon.  She’s working on another one right now.  Really admire her for that.  She also publishes books for others.

DSCN7137

Outside her house she has this beautiful plant with these big trumpet flowers.  Don’t think it would grow in Indiana.  She also has a palm tree in her yard.

DSCN7067

One of the things I absolutely love about the south is the Spanish moss.  It drapes the old oak trees.

DSCN7074

There are a lot of old oaks in the south draped with the Spanish moss. No, those two on the bench are not the old oaks. Behind us.  Wish you could have seen some of the oaks along the streets in Wilmington.  It was magical driving down the streets and seeing the old houses and trees draped with the moss.

DSCN7140

Driving down the street, I got all excited because I thought this was a quilt shop.  We parked and walked to it. I hadn’t seen the guitar on the sign and it turned out to be a restaurant with musicians. Boo.  They really need to change that sign. We did finally find a quilt shop where I could feed my fabric lust.

DSCN7084

Went to the city pier.  Hardly any people were there.

DSCN7174

The beach was long and smooth.  Sandpipers and Seagulls played along the shore.

DSCN7085

DSCN7182

David and I love to walk along the beach.

DSCN7191

Last thing we did was drive over to see the U.S.S. North Carolina battleship. It was too late in the day to go through it.  That is just another good reason for us to come back to North Carolina.

DSCN7189

Many brave men sailed on this ship and some lost their lives.

Here’s to painted houses, Spanish moss and battleships.  Bye.

North Carolina Dreaming

Have you ever been to North Carolina?  Do you live here?  It is one of the most beautiful states we have visited.  I say that about almost every state I have ever been in, but NC is right at the top of my list for beautiful states.  It has mountains, rivers, the ocean, palm trees, Spanish moss and some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

David and I are spending some time here with family and visiting some pretty sights. Before we got to Wilmington, we passed through some charming southern towns one of them being Blowing Rock.  Have you read the Mitford books by Jan Karon?   Jan based her books on this little town in the Northwest corner of the state smack dab in the most beautiful mountains you would ever want to see.

DSCN7045

DSCN7046

Blowing Rock is enchanting, quaint, friendly, entrancing and just plain enjoyable.  We spent a long morning there looking in all the shops.

DSCN7019

Eating some of the best ice cream we have ever eaten.  David got Traverse City Cherry and I got Butter Pecan and Dominacara chocolate.  Yum. (We found this same ice cream shop in Wilmington today.)

DSCN7014

The town was all dressed up for Autumn with mums and these gigantic pumpkins all over town.

DSCN7016

Have you read the Mitford books by Jan Karon?  The town of Mitford she wrote about is said to have been based on Blowing Rock and it is easy to see why.   You can almost see Father Tim walking down the streets of the town.  Esther Bolick carrying her special cakes to someone.  Miss Sadie driving her car upon to the sidewalk. Cynthia walking down the street with one hair roller hanging in her hair.

We saw the Episcopal church Jan Karon based her Father Tim’s church upon.

DSCN7024

I could just see Father Tim coming out the door of this church.  It was so charming.

DSCN7022

A nice lady asked us if we wanted her to take our picture and we said, “Sure.”  Behind us are some of the gardens surrounding the church.  It was just so pretty and I felt like I was in the pages of a book.

DSCN7010

David found a friend to share a park bench with.

DSCN7029

Hydrangeas grew all over the town and were at their peak.

DSCN7027

They were the biggest hydrangeas I have seen.

DSCN7028

David saw this cute empty little house on main street and said it would make a great quilt shop.   I said, “Let’s sell our house and move here and open a shop.”  Nice dreaming, but I think we will stay where we have been planted.

DSCN7018

We walked down some side streets and found this little garden lady standing among the flowers.

DSCN7033

Everywhere you looked there were Autumn vignettes.  I could have stayed all day and looked and looked and looked, but we had to move on.

DSCN7051

We wanted to see the place which gave the town its name.

DSCN7047

This is Blowing Rock.  David decided to climb it.  I was  taking pictures and hoping he would not fall over the top when he got up there. Legend has it that an Indian brave jumped off this rock and his lover waited here day after day until one day he was blown back up onto the rock by the winds.  Snow is said to blow backward here.  Still watching David and praying the wind won’t blow him over!

DSCN7048

He made it!  I would have tried to climb it, but I didn’t have the right kind of shoes on, so I lived vicariously through David.  It was harder to come down than to go up.

DSCN7038

It was just beautiful up here.  I could have stayed all day, but there were other places to go and other things to see.

Here’s to the beautiful state of North Carolina.  I’m in love.  Bye.

Do I Have the Courage???

There is something I have wanted to do for a long time, but never had the courage   Today I decided if I don’t do it now, I never will so tomorrow is the day.  I have asked my daughter to help me with this and my daughter-in-love will be here with my other grandchildren and they will all be in on it.

I may not even be recognizable after I do this.  Tomorrow I will blog about it.

Rodeo! and Other Things

David put on his cowboy hat.

I put on my boots and we went to a rodeo.

There were horses.

And more horses.

There was a clown.

There was patriotism and a cowboy prayer.

An announcer who kept everything going.

More horses.  Sigh.  I want a horse!!!!!

These were some of the bucking broncs that were trying to kick their cages down.  They were rearing and stomping and ready to throw anyone who got on their back.

There was even a  marriage proposal right in the middle of the rodeo and she said, “Yes!”  The clown was in on it and offered the girl a larger(fake) diamond if she would marry him.

It was a fun evening.  The moon shone down on us and the crowd enjoyed it all. I plan to go back next year.

Now for what we have been doing.  We moved into our house thirty-six years ago.  It is now one hundred years old.  We had a birthday party for it this summer.  We have done a lot of remodeling through the years, but one place we never have touched was our cellar. It is not a basement in today’s version of basements, but a cellar where canned goods were kept for the winter.  I never liked going down in the cellar because there were always spiders and I was always afraid I would come across a snake. I never have.   We had a cellar in our house when I was growing up and one time I went down the stairs to bring Mother up some canned goods and laying right at eye level in the cellar window was a big, black snake curled up sleeping.  I ran back upstairs and it was a long time before Mother could get me to go back down into the cellar.  Daddy said it was gone, but I didn’t care.

Our children always wanted us to fix up the cellar into a real basement, but it was not to be.  A week ago David did decide he would paint it to make it brighter down there.

This is the cellar before painting.  You can see one wall that our grandchildren spray painted during Grandma’s camp.  It’s the brightest spot down there.

David began to spray paint.  He painted.

And he painted.  Pretty nearly everything in sight!  Even the shelves and ceiling.  He still has some of the ceiling to paint and then we will put everything back.  I will wash all the canning jars and cover them to keep them clean and it will look like a whole new cellar.

I will continue to store our canned goods down there.  David thinks I have too many cans of baked beans and pumpkin.  A couple of years ago, pumpkin was scarce, at least in our town and you couldn’t find a can to make anything so I began to buy up every can I could find.  Now I have a very nice supply for this Fall’s baking and I will not run out.

DSCN6492

Just had to show you a double yolker one of the chooks laid.  The eggs are still pretty small although two of them laid two big eggs, but the silly girls stepped on them and broke them so Belle got to eat them.   I have baked two pound cakes with our own eggs and they turned out so yellow and moist.

I told you about these strips of fabric in an earlier post.  Fifty-two strips of fifty-two two and a half inch squares which make a one hundred and four by one hundred and four inch square quilt.

This is how it is turning out.  I was wondering what were the odds, with so many different fabrics, for the same fabrics to end up together.  Well, as you can see it happens even with one thousand one hundred and forty-four quilt squares. I don’t care.  I’m just putting them together randomly as I pick them up. You’ll never notice it on a galloping horse, as a friend of mine use to say when she made a mistake with her quilting.

Here’s to rodeos, horses and brighter cellars.  Bye.

Comments

I really do like comments.  I have had one thousand on my comment page on my dashboard  at times.  Unfortunately, they were mostly spam. How many oxycondon and Louis Vitton spams can there be?  From now on I am spamming all comments on my dashboard.  If a comment does not appear here on my post, I won’t see it.  To leave a comment click on ” leave a reply” and you will see a comment section.  My name and E-mail may already be typed in it.  Just delete those and type in yours and leave your comment.  I think people have been having trouble leaving comments before because of this.  Please don’t leave a comment anywhere else but here or I may not see it.  If anyone knows how to eliminate spam, please let me know.  I am being spammed constantly.

That’s all for today.  Bye.
