Finishing up the news for the week.\u00a0 We are getting nearly done making quilts for Riley’s Children’s hospital.\u00a0 Let me tell you a little about the senior girl who is doing this project.\u00a0 Mackenzie was born months too early and weighed just over two pounds.\u00a0 She spent a lot of time at the children’s hospital in Indianapolis in an incubator with tubes attached to her.\u00a0 I remember the first time I saw her when she was finally brought home and she was still so tiny.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

Here<\/em> we are years later and she has grown up into a beautiful, healthy girl.\u00a0 One of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met, I might add.\u00a0 She decided for her senior project to make quilts for the hospital to give back.\u00a0 When she had spent time there, she received two quilts which she still has.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Here are a few of her quilts.<\/em><\/p>\n

This is a cute one with hedgehogs on it.<\/p>\n

This is Mack.\u00a0 I think she has accomplished a lot in a few short weeks.\u00a0 From not knowing how to sew to making so many quilts, I would say she deserves an A for her project.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 This is her mom, Laura.\u00a0 She doesn’t sew either, but she helped cut out and pin and iron the quilts.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

I hope this has been a good experience for her.\u00a0 I know I enjoyed it.<\/p>\n

On to other news.\u00a0 We went to Grandparents’ Day at our grandchildren’s school this week.\u00a0 We always enjoy this time.\u00a0 We get to see what the children are doing in school and get to spend some time with them.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

Our younger grandson, Adler,\u00a0was so excited about singing in the choir.\u00a0 It was hard to get a good picture because he was moving around so much.<\/p>\n

I was hoping he would look at us so I could get his picture, but he was paying attention to his teacher.\u00a0 The girls, not so much. Ha.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I got their picture.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

We got to go into his classroom where the teacher asked several questions about the grandparents, like who had been\u00a0a cheer leader,( I was, but my cheer leading career was very short) whether we had played a sport in college, those kinds of questions just to let the children know more about their grandparents.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

After staying the night at a very comfortable motel, we spent the next morning with our older grandson who is<\/em>\u00a0an eighth grader.<\/em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

A few days ago he hardly reached my waist.\u00a0 Now he has to bend over to get in the picture.\u00a0 And he is still growing.<\/p>\n

The mural behind us was made by some high school girls, one of whom is our granddaughter who is a sophomore.\u00a0\u00a0 I think it is pretty special. They signed their names in the corner.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 Abby Craig.\u00a0 Soon we will be returning to the school to see Abby in this….<\/em><\/p>\n

I can’t wait.\u00a0 I’ve been singing the songs from it around the house.<\/p>\n

He is taller than Grandpa now.<\/p>\n

This is his Spanish classroom.<\/p>\n

Aidan’s history class. Guess who they are learning about?\u00a0 While there I saw this….<\/em><\/p>\n

An original newspaper from when President Kennedy was assassinated. I remember it like it was yesterday.\u00a0 Part of a dark time in the history of our country.\u00a0 I was still too young to vote when he ran for president, but I think I would have voted for him.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

We enjoyed both days with our red headed grandsons.\u00a0 Speaking of red hair.\u00a0 I have always been partial to red hair.\u00a0 Don’t know why.\u00a0 One of my best friends in grade schools was a beautiful red head. <\/em><\/p>\n

I told Aidan I could write a whole blog about his hair.<\/p>\n

I love running my hand through it.\u00a0 I am sure he likes having his grandma do that. Ha.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 It was a fun two days, but we had to get back to the dogs and the chickens so off we went for home.\u00a0 We did take the long way, however.\u00a0 On the way we came across this yard decorated for Halloween.<\/em><\/p>\n

I think these people really, really like Halloween! <\/em><\/p>\n

We even managed to get some antiquing in.\u00a0 Oh, yes.\u00a0 I got a few things.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n
