Anyway, I didn&#8217;t want to put icing on it so I beat up some whipping cream with a little sugar and a couple of tablespoons of homemade strawberry preserves.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now for my tutorial.\u00a0 Have you ever looked for a pretty ironing board cover?\u00a0 I never can find one I like.\u00a0 When Martha Stewart was in Kmart, she had some pretty ones once in a while and I have ordered Laura Ashley ironing board covers from Amazon.\u00a0 Lately, there is a dearth\u00a0of pretty ironing board covers.\u00a0 I saw a homemade one on a blog I read and thought to myself, &#8220;Self, you can make one of those.&#8221;\u00a0 So I set right in to trying it.\u00a0\u00a0 First I made a quilt big enough to fit my ironing board.\u00a0 You could use an old quilt if you have one around you don&#8217;t mind cutting up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/snicklefritz.net\/blog\/?attachment_id=167\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-167\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-167\" alt=\"DSCN5278\" (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have a husband or any man will do, you will have him turn your ironing board upside down on the newspaper and draw around it with a fine point marker.\u00a0\u00a0 I then marked an extra three and a quarter inches to the pattern for the lip of the ironing board and a one inch turn under.<\/p>\n<p>If I make another one, I will add an extra inch to work with because my cover just fit the board. This edge won&#8217;t show anyway, so it&#8217;s really not a problem.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/snicklefritz.net\/blog\/?attachment_id=189\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-189\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-189\" alt=\"DSCN5300\" src=\"https:\/\/snicklefritz.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/DSCN5300-500x375.jpg\" board to cut your elastic.\u00a0 I just taped one end to the board and walked around the board holding the\u00a0elastic until\u00a0the\u00a0two ends of the\u00a0elastic met and I cut it then.\u00a0 It took over three yards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/snicklefritz.net\/blog\/?attachment_id=190\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-190\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-190\" alt=\"DSCN5301\" src=\"https:\/\/snicklefritz.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/DSCN5301-500x375.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I mark both ends of the elastic so I will match the right sides when I sew them together.\u00a0 Using a safety pin, run the elastic through the casing.\u00a0 This is where it gets a little hard.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have a lot of hand strength, which I don&#8217;t, your hands become very tired trying to get the elastic to run through.\u00a0 I enlisted my good husband and it took us both to pull and tug the elastic, but we finally got it done.\u00a0 I am thinking of another, easier\u00a0way to put in the elastic, but I&#8217;ll tell you about it when I make another cover.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/snicklefritz.net\/blog\/?attachment_id=161\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-161\"><img loading=\"lazy\" I forgot to take a picture of it.\u00a0 Suffice it to say, it fit beautifully and stays on better than the store bought covers.\u00a0 I plan to make more in many colors because I do a lot of ironing
